Effective June 1, 2025, the Lagos State Judiciary has mandated that all non-litigation affidavits—such as those for change of name, loss of SIM, and declaration of age—must be processed exclusively through its electronic affidavit (e-Affidavit) system . This initiative is part of the judiciary’s ongoing efforts to digitize legal processes and enhance service delivery.

The directive, issued by the Honourable Chief Judge of Lagos State, specifies that the new e-Affidavit requirement applies solely to general affidavits not related to ongoing High Court litigation. Affidavits connected to active court proceedings remain unaffected and will continue to follow existing protocols.

To obtain an e-Affidavit, individuals should:

  1. Visit the Lagos Comis platform.
  2. Sign in with a valid email address and password.
  3. Navigate to ‘New Filings’ and select the appropriate affidavit type.
  4. Complete the online form, upload a passport photograph, and provide necessary details.
  5. Proceed to payment and upload a video for deponent identification and an electronic signature.guardian.ng

This digital transition aims to streamline affidavit processing, reduce physical visits to court premises, and minimize opportunities for document falsification. By embracing technology, the Lagos State Judiciary seeks to improve efficiency, transparency, and accessibility in legal documentation processes.
