Ethiopia is celebrating a major milestone, thanks to 19-year-old Hasset Dereje, who made an unforgettable mark at the Miss World 2025 finals. Representing her nation with pride and grace, Hasset was named first runner-up, earning her the prestigious title of Miss World Africa.

This achievement is especially significant, as it marks Ethiopia’s highest placement at the global pageant in more than 20 years. The country first entered the Miss World stage in 2003 with Hayat Ahmed, who reached the top 20 and was also recognized as Miss World Africa. Now, Hasset steps into that legacy and begins a new era for Ethiopian pageantry.

A student of Chemical Engineering at Addis Ababa Science and Technology University, Hasset proved she’s more than just a pretty face. Balancing academics with international competition, she worked her way through every stage of the pageant and secured a spot in the final four.

After the results were announced, Hasset took to Instagram with a heartfelt message:
“This title is not just mine. It belongs to Africa.”
She went on to thank her supporters, family, and her beloved aunt—tugging at the hearts of fans across the continent.

Now officially wearing the crown of Miss World Africa, Hasset has made it clear she’s just getting started. With a deep sense of purpose, she intends to use her platform to advocate for African women and shift global perspectives.

It’s not just a win for Ethiopia—it’s a win for every young African woman who dares to dream big. Hasset is proof that beauty, brains, and boldness can change the game.
