Rúben Amorim has admitted he would walk away from Manchester United as soon as tomorrow if the club’s board and supporters no longer want him — following a crushing Europa League final defeat to Tottenham that has left him at rock bottom.
Brennan Johnson netted the decisive goal in Bilbao, sealing Spurs’ triumph and condemning United to a season without European football. The loss caps a disastrous campaign, with the club languishing in 16th place in the Premier League and plagued by mounting issues both on and off the pitch.
Rúben Amorim took charge of Manchester United in November with the club sitting 13th in the Premier League. Since then, they’ve dropped three places and have been eliminated from all three cup competitions under his watch. Despite the setbacks, the Portuguese manager insists he remains the right man to lead the club forward.
“If the board and the fans believe I’m not the right man for the job, I’ll leave the very next day — no discussions about compensation,” said Amorim. “But I won’t resign again. I believe in what I’m doing, and I won’t change my approach.”
“Right now, I’m not here to defend myself — that’s not my style. I don’t have anything to prove to the fans. What I need in this moment is just a little bit of faith.”
