Benue Killings: Ortom Slams Alia, Falana Demands Justice

Amid growing outrage over rising violence in Benue State, former Governor Samuel Ortom accused Governor Hyacinth Alia of politicising insecurity and ignoring President Tinubu’s peace roadmap. Ortom criticised Alia for inconsistent narratives on the killings and urged him to empower local governments for better security response.

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) also faulted both state and federal authorities for failing to prosecute suspects arrested in recent attacks, citing multiple cases and recovered weapons. He called on the state’s Attorney General to take urgent legal action.

Meanwhile, calls for justice continue, with the Gideon and Funmi Para-Mallam Peace Foundation demanding accountability for the over 200 people killed in recent coordinated attacks. They also provided humanitarian aid to affected families.
