Boulder, Colorado – Several people were injured in what authorities are calling a “targeted terror attack” during a pro-Israel demonstration on Sunday afternoon.
The incident took place just before 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of 13th Street and Pearl Street, a typically busy area of Boulder’s pedestrian mall. According to initial reports, a suspect launched Molotov cocktails at the group gathered for the rally.
Boulder Police responded quickly to the scene and evacuated several blocks in the area. Authorities confirmed there were “several victims” with injuries ranging from minor to very serious. The suspect has been taken into custody, although their identity has not yet been publicly released.
Police have urged residents to avoid the stretch of Pearl Street between Walnut and Pine Streets as the investigation continues. The FBI has also joined the case, and Director Kash Patel confirmed in a social media statement that federal agents are on-site assisting local law enforcement.
“Our agents and local law enforcement are on the scene already, and we will share updates as more information becomes available,” Patel stated.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis also issued a statement expressing concern. “I am closely monitoring the situation in Boulder. Hate-filled acts of any kind are unacceptable,” he said.
Several of the injured individuals have been transported to local hospitals. Authorities have not released the number of victims or further details regarding their conditions.
The investigation is ongoing.
