The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
The announcement was made on Monday, June 2, by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. In a statement issued by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, the Minister extended his warm congratulations to the Muslim faithful across Nigeria and the Diaspora.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged Muslims to reflect deeply on the core values of sacrifice, obedience, and faith exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him) values that define the essence of Eid-ul-Adha.
The Minister also encouraged all citizens to use the festive period to pray for peace, unity, and prosperity in Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of spiritual reflection and national cohesion.
Reaffirming the Federal Government’s dedication to progress, Dr. Tunji-Ojo highlighted the administration’s ongoing commitment to reforms and development under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He assured Nigerians that these efforts are focused on repositioning the nation for lasting growth and sustainable development.
“As we celebrate, let us also remember to contribute our quota to the task of nation-building,” he said, calling on all Nigerians to support the government’s initiatives aimed at restoring the country’s dignity and pride.
