Flight Lieutenant Kafayat Omolara Sanni, Nigeria’s first female fighter pilot, has achieved remarkable success at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) in Accra. On 20 June 2025, she was honoured with two prestigious awards: Best Allied Student and Best Assistant Commandant Paper

Her journey began in 2019 when she became the first female fighter pilot in the Nigerian Air Force after training in the United States. Since then, she has piloted the Alpha Jet and the Super Mushshak—and has served as an instructor, mentoring upcoming NAF pilots

Sanni’s latest accolades not only underscore her personal excellence but also reflect Nigeria’s growing leadership in regional defense and its commitment to gender inclusion within the armed forces
