Iceland becomes first country in the World to legalise equal pay

Iceland Opened the year 2018 with the enactment of New law of pay equality between men and women.

This law which was issued on Monday 1 January, 2018. Makes Iceland the first country in the world to legalize equal pay between the genders.

The government of Iceland has make it mandatory for companies with over 25 labourers to obtain the certification for equal pay if they actually wants to continue with the business.
Failure to this would attract fines.

Dagny Osk Aradottir Pind, a board member of the Icelandic Women’s Rights Association speaking to the press said.. 

“The legislation is basically a mechanism that companies and organisations … evaluate every job that’s being done, and then they get a certification after they confirm the process if they are paying men and women equally,” 
“It’s a mechanism to ensure women and men are being paid equally,” she told Al Jazeera.
“We have had legislation saying that pay should be equal for men and women for decades now but we still have a pay gap.”

Iceland an island country located in the North Atlantic Ocean with approximately 323,000 people, is being regarded as world most developing country, with it tourist attractions.

The government of Iceland also have a vision to eradicate the gap of equality by 2020.
