Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has shared an emotional message about his personal transformation—and the pain behind it.
In a powerful post on the official Instagram page for his upcoming album, No Sign Of Weakness, Burna Boy made it clear that the version of himself fans once knew—the ‘African Giant’—is no more.
According to the Afro-fusion icon, the old Burna Boy “died,” and he holds Nigerians responsible for that loss. “The ‘African Giant’ Burna Boy died. His own people killed him,” he wrote.
The post further reveals an internal struggle between his past and present self. Burna Boy introduced “Big 7,” a new persona born out of necessity to protect what remains of him.
“Then ‘Big 7’ was born to protect what was left of ‘Burna Boy.’ Burna Boy and Big 7 fight each other a lot,” he continued. “Because while Big 7 is only protecting the final and only existing piece of Burna Boy’s broken heart, the ‘African Giant’ still haunts Burna Boy.”
