Brenda Fassie was one of Africa’s most iconic and legendary musicians.

Her music championed global peace and activism, with powerful vocals and an extraordinary vocal range that few could match.

She fearlessly addressed major global issues—most notably apartheid—and quickly became a beloved figure among world leaders.

One of her most enduring songs, “Vulindlela” (released in 1997), remains one of South Africa’s biggest hits to this day.

The song resurfaced in mainstream culture when Nigerian megastar Davido sampled it for his track “Funds.”
