Abuja, Nigeria – June 3, 2025 — The Federal Government of Nigeria has commenced the disbursement of arrears to members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Batch A1 2024. The payment process began on Sunday, June 2, 2025, in response to the implementation of the new minimum wage.

Following the official adjustment of the national minimum wage to ₦70,000 in March 2025, eligible corps members who served between July 2024 and February 2025 were slated to receive arrears for the difference in allowance during that period. The amount disbursed to each eligible corps member is ₦44,500.

This payment represents the backlog owed due to the wage increase that took effect midway through their service year. Corps members within the specified period have begun confirming receipt of the ₦44,500 credit alerts, though some have expressed concerns over delays.

While many have successfully received the payment, others are still awaiting disbursement. Reports suggest that these delays may be due to bank network issues or processing bottlenecks. A representative from NYSC, speaking off the record, assured that all qualified corps members will be paid in full, and that the process is being handled in batches through the Central Bank and designated partner banks.

The announcement has been met with mixed reactions across the NYSC community. While the initiative is praised as a step toward fair compensation and a fulfillment of government promises, frustrations remain among those who have yet to receive the arrears.

Eligible corps members are encouraged to stay updated through official NYSC channels while remaining patient as the process concludes.
