Barcelona have officially confirmed the signing of Spanish goalkeeper Joan García from local rivals Espanyol for a reported fee of €25 million.
The 23-year-old shot-stopper has penned a long-term deal with the Catalan giants, keeping him at the club until June 2031. García is expected to provide strong competition and future cover in the goalkeeping department, as Barça continue to strengthen their squad under the club’s sporting project.
García impressed with Espanyol last season in La Liga and has also featured for Spain at various youth levels. His move marks a significant step in his career as he joins one of the biggest clubs in European football.
Barcelona released an official statement on Monday confirming the deal and are expected to present García at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper later this week.
