The Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, has reportedly failed to honour a police invitation over allegations of multiple rape cases and other offences deemed capable of breaching public peace.

The cleric was invited to appear at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Lagos, by 10:00 a.m. on Monday to meet with the Deputy Commissioner of Police overseeing the department. The invitation followed a directive from the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, who ordered a comprehensive investigation into the allegations.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the police had received several complaints bordering on alleged sexual offences, which prompted the formal invitation to the pastor. However, a senior SCID officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed on Monday that Okafor did not show up as requested.

“Acting on the commissioner’s directive, the deputy commissioner instructed officers handling the case to debrief him. They waited throughout the day, but he never appeared,” the source said. Police authorities have also called on alleged victims to report to the SCID, assuring them that their identities would be treated with strict confidentiality.

The controversy surrounding Pastor Okafor surfaced in mid-December 2025 after multiple allegations emerged on social media. Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, in a series of Instagram videos, claimed she was involved in a long-term sexual relationship with the cleric from 2017, accusing him of making unfulfilled marriage promises, sharing explicit materials, and contributing to the collapse of her previous marriage.

The allegations have since stirred debate within religious circles, with reports suggesting that the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria may consider disciplinary action. The pastor is also said to have stepped aside from his pastoral responsibilities while investigations are ongoing.
