Real Madrid has officially announced the appointment of Xabi Alonso as the new head coach of the first team.
The Spanish coach, 43 years old, will sign a three-year contract, from June 1, 2025, to June 30, 2028.
Alonso returns to the club where he played between 2009 and 2014, appearing in 236 matches and winning six titles, including the historic 10th UEFA Champions League.
As a manager, he stood out at Bayer Leverkusen, where he completed an unbeaten season and won the Bundesliga, the German Cup, and the German Super Cup.
His official presentation will take place on Monday, May 26, at 12:30 PM at Real Madrid City, where he will sign his contract alongside President Florentino Pérez and address the media.
Alonso’s debut as head coach is scheduled for June 18 in the Club World Cup, facing Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia.
This appointment marks the beginning of a new era at Real Madrid, with hopes that Alonso—a legend of the club and world football—will continue the team’s winning tradition.
