JUST IN: Court Acquits Ibom Air Passenger

An Ikeja Magistrate Court in Ogba, Lagos State, has acquitted Comfort Emmanson, the passenger accused of unruly behaviour and assault aboard an Ibom Air flight.
Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami struck out the case on Wednesday after the police formally withdrew the five-count charge against her.
The development followed an announcement by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), who revealed that the decision came after consultations with aviation stakeholders, appeals from concerned individuals, and the remorse expressed by those involved.
Keyamo disclosed that Ibom Air had agreed to withdraw its complaint against Emmanson over the August 10 incident.
Emmanson, who was arraigned on Monday, had been granted bail in the sum of ₦500,000 with two sureties in like sum but was remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Centre after failing to meet the bail conditions.
At the resumed hearing, the prosecution, Oluwabunmi Adeitan, informed the court of fresh developments that warranted discontinuing the case. An application for withdrawal was tendered and granted by the court.
